Bukowskis

Check out this gorgeous sales counter from the 1920s. It for sale at Bukowskis online auctions in Sweden and would be the perfect bar counter for our new dining room. Now I just need to work out where I can get one in Sydney. I guess I could have one made, but I think it would lack a bit of charm.

I also want the same handles in our kitchen. At least you can buy those at Bunnings :)

Feature walls

Woohoo, got wallpaper samples in the post today. I think we've decided to use the middle one in our bedroom and the last one in the study/office. Can't wait until I can show you what it looks like!

Graduation day!

So, I've graduated from my masters. I've had a big day of celebrations and I'm about to go to bed so I'll just post a couple of pics of me in an academic dress. I felt very special and festive graduating at beautiful Sydney uni!

Obsession

Shirin is obsessed with the table I bought at the markets last weekend. She's asked me to tell the world that it is now her table and if anyone tries to get near it she will defend it, including anything that is placed on it. I had to fight with her this morning to get my handbag.

23:58

It's almost midnight and I'm still awake! Must finally be getting over my jetlag.

Today has been an amazing day. I've been to Surry Hills markets, had lunch with LMC and C, went furniture shopping with C in some random suburbs and then had dinner with PB at Chinta Ria. And the best of all - I bought two tables for our apartment. Woohoo! One side table and one 50s style coffee table. The only negative thing about this day was that some moron had parked in our car park. On a Saturday night in Manly there's not exactly a whole heap of street parks available so I had to drive around for 30 minutes to find one. NOT HAPPY! And I had to leave my tables in the car:( Things like this makes me want to buy a house!

Anyway, this is R carrying one of my tables from Surry Hills markets back to my car. Thanks R!

Because I'm too lazy to write a post..

..and because it's so funny!

Swedish summer- I want you back!

Just a few pics from our recent European holidays. I don't really have any good photos on my phone, which reminds me I have to sort through all the photos on my slr.

I can't wait until next summer when we can go back.

I love this dress...

...from Max and Cleo.

Can someone please get engaged or married or just throw a party so I can get a reason to buy it?

Bathroom inspiration

As I've mentioned, we've already picked tiles for our ensuite - I'll show you a photo later. We haven't quite decided what the large bathroom will look like yet, but we're thinking vintage style, art deco inspired with a claw foot tub and classic art deco tiles. Something along these lines...

I love all of these bathrooms and they would all suit the style of our apartment. We don't want to make it too "old" but keep it quite modern with a frameless glass shower. We just want a few vintage details.

The last photo is a picture of different tiles from a local company that have started doing vintage tiles. We really like the black and white one in the middle. We still have some time to decide though as we will do the small bathroom and the kitchen before this.

I'm back!

I haven't blogged for a few months now. I haven't had any time or energy and nothing to share. The last 6 months have been soo busy as I've finished my masters, started a company and started a new job. Now I've however had a month holiday in my lovely home country and in France, got back to Sydney, got over my jetlag and decided it's time to start blogging again. This time about renovations! Yes we have started renovating our flat - it's an absolute mess at the moment but it will be fabulous in a year or so. In the last 2 years since we moved in (I can't believe it's been that long!!) we have pretty much worked out exactly what we want to do to the place and now we're ready to get started! First up is our new bedroom and ensuite. And a laundry. We picked tiles for the bathroom yesterday - just waiting for a quote! So exciting.

Since we live in an old art deco apartment we have decided to try to keep some old features and make it look classic in a contemporary way. A bit like this...

These are actually the floorboards we're getting. Wide oak floorboards. But we have a long way to go before our apartment looks like this!

I'll keep you posted!

It's been too long again...

...since I blogged. I know.

I've had a really relaxing day today with ML and PB involving yum cha, drinks in the sunshine on our balcony and dinner at manly grill. yum yum. I also had a drink at 4 pines with a friend who's moved to Melbourne but is back in Sydney for the weekend. So it's been a really nice day.

And I just have to show you this absolutely gorgeous video that PB just emailed me. It melts my heart!

Half Marathon

I've abandon the idea of doing a full marathon in September but decided to do the half marathon instead. At the moment I'm doing three runs per week and I'm feeling soo good about it. And I just love running at the beach - so happy we live in Manly!

Aussie!

On Thursday Brett and I went on a journey to Parramatta (on the other side of Sydney) where I made a pledge to Australia, sang the national Anthem and then was announced an Australian citizen.

 I got a certificate!

Afterwards we went for a walk through Hyde Park, had lunch at Din Tai Fung and then walked down to the Opera bar for drinks with some friends.

ML gave me a book to help me settle in as an Aussie...

 We had lots of drinks

After a few hours we moved on to have dinner at a great Italian restaurant in Walsh Bay - Ventuno.

So, now I'm aussie. Weird but good.
