Fun fun fun

Last night I was meant to have a few quiet drinks with Hannah (aka Jompa) at a wine bar in Paddington that a friend manages. It's called the "wine library" and I can highly recommend it. Pitea and A also joined us and suddenly our quiet night out turned out to be absolutely hysterical. I can't remember the last time I laughed as much as I did last night. My jar is actually hurting today.
After we had finished being spoiled by R at the wine bar, we moved on to Sticky for some live music and cocktails. I love random nights out, they are always the best! But you need to have good friends to have good nights out - and I definately do!

This afternoon Brett and I drove down to the snow for another couple of days of snow camping. We're staying at a motel tonight and are heading out early tomorrow morning. This time a few friends are coming along too, which will be great! Brett reckons we will stay out for 3 nights but I have a feeling I'm going to bail after 2... We'll see how we go.

Camping and wedding

Check out Brett's blog if you are interested in reading about our Kosciusko ski-camping trip. I was going to write about it myself but since Brett has already pretty much covered everything I changed my mind. But I will post a few photos just to give you an idea of what was going on.

Today we are having a meeting with the event planner at our reception hall to work out what we want to do for decorations, food, ceremony setup etc. And yesterday we bought the wedding bands! I also bought a really cute dress from Alannah Hill for D&M's wedding in a couple of weeks! I was trying to get a picture of it from the Allanah Hill website, but it is far too fancy and not very user-friendly so I got sick of trying to navigate my way through it. I'll just have to show a photo from the wedding instead!

We're out camping somewhere between thredbo and mt kosziousko. It's been a stunning day but freezing cold right now. Lucky I'm wearing a down suit. That is, down jacket, down pants and down booties.

Inspirational issues

It's been a while since I wrote something substantial and of any interest in this blog. I've been too busy and too uninspired lately to come up with anything to write about at all. But the next couple of weeks should be less busy so hopefully I'll find some time and inspiration for blogging.

Most of my free time circulates around planning our wedding. I could never have dreamed of how much time I would have to spend on organising something as simple as... hmmm.. actually nothing is simple when it comes to organising weddings. But it's fun too! And everything is pretty much planned now anyway.

I've got an exam tomorrow but I feel so confident about it that I'm going to meet up with some friends for a drink at Gazebo tonight. And tomorrow afternoon we're off to Thredbo for some skiing! I'm actually going to stop blogging now and book some accommodation.

Steamed ling with crayfish, snowpeas, pak choy, carrot and broccolini served in a crayfish broth. So deliscious. I'll post the recipe later.

Rain, rain and more rain

Another week of rain and melting suns. When is this going to stop? It's even more depressing as all my friends are posting beautiful photos of the Swedish summer on facebook. And I even missed out on midsummer this year. Next summer I'm going to spend at least a month in Sweden.

Why am I still awake?

I don't know what I'm doing up at 2 am but since I'm up I might as well blog. I had dinner with ML tonight (umm last night) at a nice little pizza joint in Annandale. Nowhere near as good as Svens but still very tasty pizza. Afterwards we went to MLs and made a Swedish kladdcake and watched Mastershef. Very disappointed with the elimination. But I guess it had to happen. Clearly someone who actually knows how to cook can't win the competition. They made that perfectly clear in the first season. Oh well, it's still quite entertaining to watch. And at least Alvin is still in the competition...   

Only a few more weeks

The last time I was this addicted to a TV-show was about 17 years ago. I was 10 years old and totally obsessed with the Swedish soap opera Rederiet. I wonder which TV-show I will be addicted to 17 years from now. When I'm 44. Hopefully Mad Men is still airing then.     

Monday treats

Last night ML and I had a spontaneous sushi dinner at makatu and then decided to see a Gold class movie.




We were hanging out in the gold class lounge for a while before the movie started.









There are definately worse ways to spend a rainy Monday than stretching out on a big day bed with a glass of champagne and antipasto. I might make this a Monday night tradition.
